Fruit
Sta. Rita Hills AVA, La Encantada Vineyard, Clones 777 and 667.

Winemaking:
The 2016 growing season was favorable as El Niño winter rains helped feed the vines, but levels were still below normal. It was a warm spring, resulting in early bud break, but nights cooled off in July and August as grapes reached maturity around Labor Day. Yields were normal and the fruit was of excellent quality. We sorted and used 25% whole-clusters to impart some spice notes. The bins were cold soaked, inoculated and punched down by hand and then barreled down for aging.

What's It Like?
Black cherry, graphite and anise flavors highlighted this single-vineyard offering.
